Palos Park Police Department
Sets Up Teen Hotline

No Questions Asked!
Palos Park Police Commissioner Dan
Polk has announced that the Palos Park Police Department has set up
an Anonymous Teen Hotline, in an effort to reduce the hazards and
tragic endings that often occur after teens leave underage drinking
parties.
Palos Park teens will be encouraged
to call the anonymous hotline to report possible pending underage
parties, where teens may be consuming alcohol and/or drugs and then
getting into a vehicle and driving on our roadways.
Police Chief Joe Miller said, “The
goal of the Teen Hotline is simply prevention and a tool to avoid a
tragic ending to a night of underage partying. When you combine
alcohol and driving, coupled with young inexperienced drivers, you
have a recipe for disaster.”
The Teen Hotline is meant to simply
get teens home safely and avoid a disaster before it occurs. It is
a “no questions asked” option to make parents and police aware of
underage parties before the festivities end in a death, injury,
arrest of civil/criminal parental Responsibility litigation.
If a tip comes into the hotline, one
designated officer will follow up on the tip, check the validity of
it, inform the parents and have patrol staff monitor the area for
signs of an underage party.
Teens in Palos Park can trust police
to, at the least, get them home safely and offer them an alternative
to driving with an intoxicated or impaired friend! |
